Increasingly our fast paced world demands constant change: technology, jobs, organizations, careers, family life, politics, culture. Everywhere we turn we push ourselves or are pushed to move faster, to change more quickly, to keep two steps ahead and/or to buy, do, have, spend and even be more.
Spiritual Direction as a process and a commitment invites us to move at a different and much slower place. A place where we can breathe deeply and listen to each other and to God/Mystery/Spirit/Creator—however one defines the energetic presence of spirit. A place where we listen and talk, reflect, question, pray, discern, write, draw, hold silence, and then chose to move (or not) at the pace of guidance.
As a trained ecumenical Spiritual Director, an Oblate of St. Benedict, a progressive Catholic, as well as a former HR executive from the fast-paced corporate world, I have in depth experiences in listening with discernment and compassion, prayer practices, writing as a source of spiritual healing, lectio divina, centering prayer, singing, chanting, and meditation. I will accompany you on the exploration of your life’s path and hold space for what emerges from within as you listen to Spirit.
Together, we walk the road of your journey and help you discern and deepen the meaning of your life’s choices and any next steps you wish to explore.
Typically, spiritual direction happens regularly: once a month or every few weeks for an hour, depending on schedules. Generally, sessions are held on Skype or via telephone, although sometimes we meet in person. Occasionally, there is a need for more intensive spiritual direction, such as a career change opportunity, a family issue or crisis, or a death. If this happens, we discuss the need to increase the frequency of our time together with wisdom and clarity and schedule accordingly.
